Gregoire Verdeaux joins Hering Schuppener as a Partner to lead the EU Corporate & Public Affairs Team in Brussels

Brussels, January 8, 2020 – Hering Schuppener Consulting is pleased to announce a high-level addition to its leadership team. As of January 2020, Gregoire Verdeaux, a French national and one of the leading European public affairs experts with first-hand experience from international corporates, politics and administration, will lead the firm’s EU Corporate Affairs team and the Brussels office.

Gregoire is one of the most highly respected public affairs leaders in Europe, with extensive industry experience in successfully operating within highly regulated markets. He joins from Vodafone Group, where, as International Policy Director, he was responsible for the company’s European government relations activities, recently playing an instrumental role in gaining EU clearance for the €18.4 billion takeover of Unitymedia and promoting the company’s «Gigabit society» concept as the cornerstone of the EU broadband strategy. He was also in charge of Vodafone’s external risk management in emerging markets such as China and other G20 economies.

Prior to 2014, Gregoire led the government affairs effort at the French electricity giant EdF, with a key role in Brussels for the clearance of the landmark State aid case «Hinkley Point» (2014). Gregoire began his career in the civil service as administrator of the French Senate and subsequently joined the cabinets of Michel Barnier at the European Commission and the French ministry of Foreign Affairs, and later of Nicolas Sarkozy as Deputy Head of Cabinet in the French Presidency. He also gained experience in international organisations based on his time spent with the WHO and UNDP from 2005 to 2008.

Alexander Geiser, Managing Partner of Hering Schuppener Consulting: “We are delighted to welcome Gregoire to our partnership. He will play a critical role in further expanding our position as the go-to firm in mission critical situations on the European continent.”

The strengthening of the internationally positioned team of Hering Schuppener in Brussels is also a strong signal for clients outside of Europe. Under the leadership of Gregoire Verdeaux, the practice will continue to grow in order to provide international corporates with communication advice in all questions of European regulatory issues.

“I am very excited to change my perspective following 25 years on the corporate side and government service. Hering Schuppener is clearly the strongest continental European communications and public affairs consultancy. I am looking forward to contributing my experience and knowledge of regulatory structures and processes to further strengthen the firm,” comments Gregoire Verdeaux.
